Overview

Tailscale began as a deeply respected open-source project. A simple way to securely connect users and devices across any network. Developers loved it. Teams trusted it. And adoption spread globally. When Tailscale partnered with Together, the product was already world-class, but its website still reflected its early identity. The company was preparing to expand into larger, more complex organisations, and needed a digital presence that could speak to enterprise buyers without losing the trust of its community.

Since launch, Tailscale’s trajectory has continued to accelerate. The company has raised $160 million in Series C funding, led by Accel with participation from CRV, Insight Partners, Heavybit, and Uncork Capital. It has been named by Fast Company as one of the Next Big Things in Tech, recognised as a Mid-Market Maverick. And its customer base now includes companies such as Revolut, Instacart, Mercury, Duolingo, and Airbus.

Preserving trust while expanding ambition.

Tailscale’s greatest strength was its authenticity. Its open-source roots — epitomised by HomeLab — had earned deep trust among developers, but that same identity risked underselling its maturity to larger organisations. The challenge was not just to make Tailscale look “bigger,” but to make it look as capable as it already was. The narrative needed to reassure security leaders, infrastructure teams, and decision-makers, while remaining familiar to engineers. The result is a story that feels grounded, not inflated. A platform that scales naturally from individual teams to global organisations.

From open-source tool to enterprise platform.

The website reframes Tailscale as a secure connectivity layer built for modern organisations. Use cases and benefits are structured to guide different audiences through the product’s value, whether they are evaluating it for a single team or a company-wide deployment. The storytelling focuses on outcomes: simplicity, security, reliability, and control. Customer examples demonstrate real-world adoption, helping bridge the gap between technical credibility and commercial confidence.

An evolution, not a reinvention.

Tailscale’s original brand was understated, minimal, and quietly confident. We chose not to disrupt that character. White space remains central. The design language stays restrained. But colour, shape, and motion are introduced with greater intention and consistency. A refined palette supports hierarchy. A system of shapes creates subtle supergraphics that give the site a stronger sense of structure and identity. Rive animations add light, fast moments of interaction. Everything feels considered. Nothing feels forced.

A site built for scale.

The platform is built using Sanity and Next.js with Tailwind, giving Tailscale a flexible, modern foundation that supports ongoing growth. Content is easy to manage, pages are easy to evolve, and performance remains fast across devices. The site was designed to support a company moving into a larger market — one that continues to serve the open-source community while increasingly addressing enterprise security, compliance, and scale.
