Diffblue

Engineering a category-defining brand for autonomous software development.

Overview

Diffblue is redefining how enterprise engineering teams maintain and scale complex codebases. Spun out of Oxford University’s AI research group in 2016, Diffblue quickly closed one of Europe’s largest Series A funding rounds, with Albion Capital, IP Group and Citigroup among investors. Its AI automatically writes Java unit tests, strengthening code quality and accelerating delivery.

Yet the previous brand and website didn’t communicate this sophistication to technical or commercial audiences. We partnered with their team to articulate Diffblue’s market position, clarify product messaging, and create a website that drives adoption and enterprise growth.

Clearer positioning for commercial traction.

Diffblue operates in a fast-moving category: AI for code. We refined the brand positioning to reflect product maturity, differentiate from competitors, and signal leadership in autonomous testing. The new brand platform was created around the idea of supercharging both the process and impact of software development, ensuring that every communication, from investor decks to enterprise proposals, supports Diffblue’s go-to-market objectives.

Many prospects didn’t fully understand Diffblue’s autonomous testing capabilities or the operational impact of the platform. We prioritised product clarity, using interactive demos, real-time UI animations, and structured messaging to show tangible outcomes. Now, decision-makers can quickly see what Diffblue does and — crucially — what makes it unique in the space.

A brand concept rooted in code.

Diffblue’s brand is built around one idea: supercharging both the process and the impact of software development. Its identity draws on the code the product writes, so the brand and the technology read as one.

A scalable design system for product, marketing, and future launches.

Diffblue’s teams needed a flexible system to move quickly across channels. We built reusable visual and verbal building blocks that can evolve with new products, campaigns, and market requirements. From sales decks to website updates, the design system ensures consistency without slowing execution.

A website engineered for clarity, credibility, and enterprise conversion.

The website was rebuilt from the ground up as a product-led sales and marketing tool. Every section guides visitors through core outcomes, builds trust with proof points, and encourages action. It serves multiple audiences — individual developers, small engineering teams, global banks — all in a clear, scalable experience.

“Finally our brand and website represent where our company and product is today — a mature player in the ever-advancing AI for Code category.”
